Second Annual Discover CIU 5k/10k

CIU will host its second community trails race

CIU is putting on its Second Annual Discover CIU 5k/10k trail race for the community February 2nd starting at 9 am. Last year Coach Brooker directed a 5k through the trails that drew almost 60 runners to CIU's campus. This year we will be offering a 10k in hopes of drawing more runners to campus. The race is meant to bring awareness to CIU Athletics and help raise money for the cross country program and Athletic Department in general.

The race will offer a unique team competition for the 5k. Runners can form a team of 5 to compete against others for additional prizes and bragging rights. The race will be scored out just like a high school or college meet where the three fastest teams (the lowest score) will win a prize.

There will also be awards for the top 3 overall men and top 3 overall women in each the 5k and 10k. The top three in each age group will also receive prizes in each race! Age groups go up in 5 year increments starting with 14 and under and end at 70 and up.

Registration is very low, starting at $15 for BL/CIU affiliates and $20 for other community runners. Teams can be formed for as little as $16 a runner.
